the biggest holiday of the year...
as new parents, bryan and i have talked about whether or not we will tell mya about santa claus. OFCOURSE we will. she will know that Christmas is the day we celebrate Jesus' birth, that He is God's son, born into this world to feed the poor, heal the sick, and bring salvation from sin. even though she is not old enough to grasp those life-changing truths, we will tell her what Christmas means to us. then we will entertain her child-like excitement, and join with her in eager anticipation of opening presents each year. it truly is a fun thing to watch your child's eyes glow (yes, even as young as ten months old) as they behold a new stuffed animal or colorful book. i believe God is exactly the same way with us, eager to watch us enjoy even the simple things as long as we don't love the 'thing' more than we love God (Isaiah 44:17). this year, bryan and i received many wonderful gifts. but having mya with whom we can celebrate is the greatest gift of all.
