mya burned her hand tonight and it was very scary for me and bryan. HE was taking a pizza out of the oven while i was washing my hands in the sink. mya pitter-pattered over to the open oven door and put her hand on the inside of it. after she touched it we both realized what had happened but it was too late. reality set in on mya's face and she proceeded to wail for 45 minutes. bryan and i were like two crazy people running around trying to soothe her while feeling so helpless. thanks to vita, my highly respected and intelligent friend, i knew that flour draws the heat out of a burn like this one which prevents blistering. the down side is it makes the burn hurt even more because it is pulling the heat out the same way it went in. why is it that some things that are good for us hurt us so bad?

she walked around all night holding her hand like this. when i would try to look at it she would pull it away and say, 'ow-y'.

rest assured, mya is fine. by bedtime she was herself again, with a tender hand. she did say 'mimi' and 'rampie' two separate times, almost as though she knew seasoned grandparents would never let this happen to her. lesson learned for her mommy and dad.
