late last night i was putting some leftovers in the fridge when i noticed mya's little toy dutch oven, right next to the pie i had made. i remembered earlier she had said, 'mommy, open the fridge. i have to put my pie in there.' in the business of dinner prep. i hadn't noticed. and then, while she lay sleeping in her crib, there it was, cold and empty with only the pie from mya's imagination inside.
