oh! so much to say! this was the first christmas on our own, plus uncle tim. usually we're with extended family. it was a bit strange for me because all of the decorating and planning was up to me. i wrote to my mom and told her how much i appreciated all of her hard work christmas after christmas. i never knew it was so much effort. first the thought process of what to buy. then the purchasing and wrapping. then the decorating and food planning. then the preparing for uncle tim...yeah, we did prepare our basement. then the setting up after mya went to bed. i tried to make it look like santa had visited and left a party behind. we talked to mya about Jesus's birth, the greatest gift, and how Santa brings us presents to help us celebrate that birth. that's the best i could do with my almost three year old. i was surprised that she had no idea what to expect. she had zero anticipation of the morning. she was more concerned than excited that a man was breaking into our home while we were sleeping. in the morning she climbed up into our bed and fell back asleep, completely missing the red wrapped present i left on her white comforter. it wasn't until we lured her out into the family room that she saw the gifts and began to squeal with excitement. it was fun.
mya made a scarf for her uncle tim. she was so proud. i think he was too.
