nick and michelle, nick and michelle. how does one say 'thank you' for such an incredible meal? our friends came over friday evening as mya was headed to bed and we had a different kind of dinner, one where our friends brought the food and cooked for us in our kitchen. i made pita chips and a white bean dip, served with a delicious kir aperitif (white wine with blackberry currant liquor). nick made french onion soup from scratch, followed by steak au poivre (covered in pepper and sauteed in butter), roasted garlic mashed potatoes, of course from scratch, and hericots verts served with crispy shallots. for dessert i baked granny smith apples with cinnamon and cider. naturally, nothing i make turns out right, a curse passed down, and so our apples were a bit on the firm side. but no one cared. we were so full from dinner it didn't matter. we capped the night off with some bailey's, butterscotch, and godiva liquor. merci!
