because i lost a 3 year-journal of your life on my computer i feel compelled to write a note here, where one day it will be added to a book just for you. your frequent visitors will read it as well but that's ok. there's nothing to hide.
as you may one day find out, being a mom is an experience unlike any other. no one can prepare you for the daily sacrifices you will have to make, giving of your time, energy, and comfort all for the life and betterment of your child. as someone who believes pride is her besetting weakness it has not been easy for me to always put your needs above my own. in fact, you have seen me at my worst moments and still you would choose me to be your mom over anyone else. i too, would choose you to be my little girl over anyone else. i am grateful that God, in His sovereignty, gave you to me. i love that God gives moms the ability to know their little ones unlike anyone else. i know your greatest strengths and the many ways in which God is already fashioning you to make your way in this world. you are learning so much every day. you are maturing and growing in profound ways. your dad and i stand amazed at the little girl you've already become, though it does seem like you were born only a few months ago. there are so many who love you and are glad to know you, and are genuinely made better because of you in their lives. what a special little girl you are.
i love you, my-my. i love living every day with you. thank you for loving me, forgiving me, and teaching me so much about what is important, times like this one where we can lay in your bed at the end of a long day, the smell of orange mango shampoo in your hair, and your favorite books in our laps. if only i could stop time i would stop it right here:

love, mom
