well, while i wait for my camera to be repaired at the canon factory, i thought i'd share something that i've grown to love. it's a tv show called 'brothers and sisters'. i have been motivated to write this post after just watching the latest episode on my computer called 'a bone to pick'. if you want a good cry, watch it here.
calista flockhart's character 'kitty' has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is suffering as the cancer is growing at a fast rate. she has already undergone chemo, lost her hair, faced the difficult questions of 'what's to come', and decides to undergo a bone marrow transplant.
this fictional story about a fictional character is all-too familiar to me and to bryan as we lost a friend of ours to cancer in 2003, may 12th, to be exact. her name was amy. i don't grieve her loss everyday, but i do think of her when i see anyone with a scarf on their bald head, or a pink ribbon on their shirt. tonight i cried as i watched this show and thought of her, of the loss of this friend in our lives, who inspired us in so many ways, not the least of which is the naming of our daughter mya, who's name carries all of the letters in amy's name.
i miss my friend. i am grateful that she loved Jesus and is with Him in glory. and so i dedicate this post to her.
and on that note, i shall return in a week to post some pictures of what we've been up to over the holidays! thanks for tolerating my emotions.

Brings chills Lisa. I still recall her fight (and peace) when she shared with us her testimony on the couch. What an inspiration. I did not realize that about Mya - I think it is great!
Lisa- I'll tolerate your emotions any day. xoxo
i love that show too! i cry every week. every. week.
