i've been doing well. this is a sweater that mya picked out for me and i'm proud of it for that reason alone. i would never have bought this if i were shopping by myself. but she fell in love with it and told me i had to have it.

what's on my mind lately? the fact that we don't know where we'll live this summer, (but we know the city in which we'll live! more to follow!) also, the fact that we do not know who will sublet our home while we're away, sleep in our bed, and use all our stuff (and maybe break things that i love!) so far, even with all of the unknowns that seminary has brought with it, it is just as difficult for me to embrace the "what next" now as it was a year and a half ago. oh! i know no one truly knows what lies in their future. such knowledge belongs to God alone. i am speaking of the apparent knowledge we can have about our future when we own a house, or have tenure at a university, for example. that is what we lack. surely this is the best thing for me to experience. God is sovereign and has His perfect reasons for letting me 'not know'. i'm kind of ok with that. pray that i would be totally ok with that. i found this verse:
John 14:23 (English Standard Version)
"If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." Amen.
God is gracious, is He not? if He is at peace to make His home with me, then i ought to be at peace, as well, if i understand who is this God.
i stay somewhat busy helping care for this little guy. we love him. what a precious baby. we are so blessed to have him in our lives throughout the week. his fabulous mom and dad (bryan kind of idolizes his dad), live a couple apartments down from us. they've been a great family to know.

can i get a standing round of applause for this man whom i love? i could not be more impressed with bryan. he is working and going to school and hardly has time to stop for a breath but he does daily, for his family. he often puts mya to bed, reads her Bible with her, teaches her about Jesus' great love for her, prays with her, occasionally washes the dinner dishes, and then heads down to his office for a long night of study. that's great love. bryan has done an amazing job balancing all of the challenges of grad-school, work, and family. yes, i am prone to complain at times of the high stress of this lifestyle, but bryan is not to blame. we are learning together and maturing together. we are eternally grateful for this wonderfully difficult season of life. bryan loves that phrase, which i used shortly after we got married to answer the question, 'how's marriage?' that phrase applies especially to this stage of the journey, a stage wherein lies a lot of questions regarding our future. i certainly cannot put my security in my place of residence or my husband's secure job even if i wanted to as i don't own a home and my husband only works part time! i am learning that home is wherever God is calling me to be with my family. right now,"home" is here in temporary student housing with amazing friends who love us so well. i love walking beside this man. we are blessed.
