molli, our dog, turned 8 in october. the month came and went with no mention of it. in november, it dawned on me that our dog was another year older. when i asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she just looked at me. she didn't talk. but i saw the look in her eye. the same look that's always there. 'i want a walk'. 'that's all i want.' 'just a walk.' 'please, mom, a walk?' 'what's that? you're putting on your shoes and jacket? is it because we're going for a walk?'
poor molli. in florida, i took her on a walk about 6 days a week for about 5 years. the weather allowed for it. but now, poor girl. she's lucky to walk 6 days a month. and her walks are much shorter. see, i can't take mya with me. she walks way too slowly. the times that i am without mya and have time to walk when the WEATHER allows are too few and far between. so our sweet little pup has to go without.
here's to you, molli. you're a great guard dog. a stupid one who can't tell the difference between a friend walking by or a stranger who could be lurking, but a great guard dog nonetheless. we love you.
your fam.
