I wrote the following a long time ago and never posted it because its boring. But, in the future, I will enjoy looking back and reading these details.
"Morgan is 13 weeks today. i documented her 3 month birthday last week. she was 15.9 pounds.
as well as she's been doing, morgan has still had some relatively minor issues with eating, which, while not enough to keep her from gaining weight appropriately, would cause her to have difficulty with solid food and talking later on. i am thankful that my instinct was to take her to an occupational therapist even though her eating issue was an inconsistent one and i wondered if it would just get better on its own. i was told 'no', it wouldn't. so i have these little exercises i do with her where she has to chew on my finger a certain number of times and i have to rub the inside of her little cheek and when she uses her paci or a takes a bottle i have to offer resistance so that she'll work harder to keep it in her mouth.
she's also showing definite signs of acid reflux. the first suggestion is that i cut out all dairy and that means reading labels. milk hides out in a lot of things, like Naan bread, fiber one bars, artisan tostito chipotle chips, and just about everything on a restaurant menu (because so many things are cooked in butter). when i avoid dairy, she eats quietly and comfortably. if i eat so much as a tablespoon of whip cream, she goes on an eating strike. its sad to see.
this little munckin is so much fun. like mya, she is an easy baby. she loves to cuddle and often falls asleep just sitting in my lap, or lying next to me. she prefers to be held tight and when she's snuggled in close, she totally relaxes. its so precious.
morgan is already moving toward sleeping through the night. she's had 4 nights where she's skipped a feeding. she's been going 4-5 hours in between feedings and either goes right to sleep after she eats at night, or soothes herself quietly to sleep. she doesn't have to be rocked. how independent.
my favorite thing that morgan does is smile at her big sister. she stares at mya and watches her ballet dance all over the house and read books and rider her scooter. its almost as if at 3 months, mo is already saying, 'wait for me' or 'how'd you do that'. morgan's tricks are to stand firmly on her own two feet and sit up while holding her head steady. she seems excited that she can do these things and loves the attention she gets when she does them.
in watching people closely, she's watching us while we eat, too. i wouldn't be surprised if she's eating solids in a few weeks. she seems ready to join in with her family on big people things to do.
recently, we had some friends over who have a 6 month old baby. the two babies stared at each other and smiled a lot. little cate was the first baby morgan was introduced to. it was like she was realizing, 'hey, you're my size. you're another baby. we're babies.'"
